Ant Power
Spent some quality time this morning watching a Florida Collard Ant, Aphaenogaster floridana, carry an unidentified insect carcass across a path in our backyard. Usually two or three ants will work together to bring a tasty morsel this large back to their colony. But for some unknown, at least by me, reason...this single ant was managing it by herself. Needless to say, I was very impressed! I'm certain that she was met by great ant fanfare upon her arrival at the nest!
"It is the ant, not the lion, which the elephant fears."
