Spot Jan...

...following our snow-shoe trail, up behind our house to the hill top with a view.
There were so many hare tracks on the snow, which is unusual for this area. We aren't sure if there is one very active hare, or if several have moved in.
The deep snow from the winter, and then a cm or two of fresh snow on top, seems to be perfect for seeing detailed hare tracks.
The small tracks are the front feet. When the hare is moving the front feet land first, then the back feet come past them, land, and push off into the next bound. So the front feet end up at the back of the track!
