Like a fish out of water

I had to go to Kingston this morning to run a few errands - my eldest son came with me as a break from his studying, and also so he could practice his driving. No stalling at all in the traffic today...which was good.

I took many photos of the outdoor fruit and vegetable market and also of the shoppers in Kingston. I then wandered down to the river - it is the River Thames that comes through Kingston as many of you know - but I was too slow to capture four swans coming in to land on the river. The shots I took of the swans were not to my liking and so instead you have this image of a boat out of the water - chosen by my son as the preferred image of the day.

Tonight we are going to see the movie The Great Gatsby. I know many reports of the movie have been quite negative but it is one of my all time favourite books and I am sure the Baz Luhrman scenes will be sumptuous and dazzling. My older boys have studied the book in much detail for GCSE's and their teacher recommended this version rather than the old Robert Redford/Mia Farrow one
