Spring has Sprung .

The end of March is already in sight , time just rushes by at an unsettling pace.
There was warmth in the sunshine today, flowers decorate the verges and gardens and the volume of birdsong is ever increasing . I think we can agree that Spring has sprung in this NW corner of England.

This morning we left our cosy bed earlier than we would have chosen and sped out across town to pick up Arthur, he had another poor night and was also reluctant to leave his warm nest. The roads between us and him were grid locked so we retraced our footsteps home and ate breakfast before setting off again to pick up our small bear who had, by then, regained his good cheer.

We spent some time doing a litter pick on the street, Arthur has got quite proficient at manipulating the litter picker, it’s usually the first thing he looks for when he comes.

We spent the afternoon, in the sunshine, playing in a pleasant play area near the roman town of Ribchester. D and I took it in turns to walk Bramble along the river bank . The views were as pretty as ever, Pendle rising in the distance , blue skies above with interesting arrangements of white clouds, the River Ribble glittering in the sunlight as it flows by, sheep grazing in the green fields awaiting the arrival of their lambs .  Plenty of interest!

After returning our bear [not a grizzly bear today despite being weary] we popped into
B and Q to buy some guttering . My plan is to attach the guttering to the side wall of our house , above the shady garden ,where it will catch the sun and hopefully grow something edible .
Any ideas for edibles that will grow happily in such a space will be gratefully received !
