Procol Harum - Long Gone Geek (1969)
R.I.P. Keith Reid (19.10.1946, Welwyn Garden City - 23.3.2023, London)
Procol Harum: Gary Brooker (vcl, pno), Matthew Fisher (org, vcl), Robin Trower (gtr, vcl), David Knights (bass, vcl), BJ Wilson (dr, perc), Keith Reid (lyrics)
Keith Reid was a member of Procol Harum who attended all their sessions and concerts but did not perform with them. He was well known for writing the lyrics for A Whiter Shade Of Pale, A Salty Dog, Conquistador, Homburg and many, many others in collaboration with Gary Brooker who wrote the melodies and arrangements. Long Gone Geek was a concert favourite from 1967 but was only recorded in mono for the B-side of A Salty Dog, released in June 1969.
