bright spots
Its been a bit of a grey day outdoors, compared to yesterday's bright sunshine. I was inside for most of it, though, working in the cafe (very busy!) and then at DG1, for swim and sauna, and finally at the supermarket for a food shop.
When I reached home and got out of the car, a mistle thrush was singing from the top of the ash tree so I stood and listened for a while. I learned only yesterday that they sing in a minor key, which can make their song sound a little melancholy. They also seem to delight in singing in bad weather, which is why their old country name is the "stormcock".Here is some mistle thrush folklore.
This is a detail from one of D's recent encaustic paintings. I love the bright colours.
