Return to Ferryoons

These days, the place previously known as Ferryoons is called Littleferry. Why Ferryoons? Well if you look at ancient maps of Loch Fleet you'll find the estuary marked as Unes Flumen. You'll later find it referred to in texts as Loch Unes or Loch Oons. Later still, there was a ferry.  Ferryoons.

And why Little? Down the road, crossing the Dornoch Firth there was a bigger one. Simples!

And on that peninsula, behind those trees, we built a big house. 20 years on, we're elsewhere, but it's more convenient.

Now in the extra there's the seals in closeup. Once it was a much bigger, bank and seeing over 100 seals at low tide was normal. The seals are still there, but now there are several sandbanks, and several clubs now exist. The bridge players are on the far side. This lot do crosswords over coffee.
