Newbies
We introduced four new hens to our remaining three today. They are called ginger nut hens. It was a good introduction and there was no fighting. The extra shows Lizzie giving them a bit of a talking to and telling them who's boss! The older ones were very vocal for about half an hour but then it all calmed down. They were introduced in the fruit cage where they love to roam during the day, despite having a much larger patch of ground around their sleeping shed. In the main photo you can see their tunnel which gives them safe access from one to the other. Only one has a name so far that is the one furthest away in the photo. She is Frieda, named by Charlotte. I'm going to call one of them Ginger I think, then the other two will be named by grandchildren. They seem to settle almost immediately and appeared not to be at all concerned by by the established hens. The sun shine for them too!
Grateful:
For a safe and happy place to keep hens
For the lovely eggs they provide us with
For being retired and having time to enjoy such moments
