Aspidistra
Our aspidistra plants are tolerated rather than loved. Their origins are lost back in old family folklore, but they’re old - very old - and seemingly indestructible. Against my wishes, they’re brought indoors for the winter, and they sit unwieldy in their pots, demanding space, waiting for the time when they can return to the open porch where I can almost forget them. And thankfully, this will be very soon.
But today, they catch a glimpse of the brief period of sunshine, lighting up the edge of a leaf. Clearly they have their uses - my minimalist Abstract Thursday blip.
