But We Are....

A new book - a birthday gift from my good friend Mary who lives far away and sends gifts by mail. This one arrived early, but I did not open it until now. At first I was stunned by the title..and thought..she doesn't think we should be friends? heh heh..but no, there was a note with it saying it did not refer to us! Whew!  It is a memoir of sorts describing a unique and unexpected long-term friendship between a gay man and a "jock". Of course, I have not started it yet, but it does sound interesting. Mary says she really likes his writing style and I trust Mary about all things "book".
 
So much for the blue skies of yesterday ..of course they disappeared and today we had yet another rainy day! What could one expect?  April is on the horizon...Still, it was a productive day for a change. 

After a good night's sleep, I managed to get to my mammogram appointment on time, and then tackle some items on my To-Do-Now list...like track down a back-up battery for my new camera!  Thanks to my daughter's suggestion, I did... Surprisingly, what well-known camera stores cannot supply, Amazon can? Who knew? I also mailed Mary's birthday gift to her  - very early - as I will be away in France and she will be in the Shetlands for her birthday! 

One of the pleasant things about a birthday coming up soon is hearing from friends ..Today it was Lois..a good friend from my Arizona days. We had such good times together during those AZ winters taking adult learning classes at the college, going on field trips and outings to museums and special events. Both of us were there to look after our elderly mothers, so we had a lot in common. Lois lives in the Rockies of Colorado, so it is not as if I see her often..In fact..I have not seen her in person for years now...but we share so many memories, it is, in many ways, like no time has passed..It was so good to hear from her.. 

Birthdays these days are somewhat scary..all those years gone..and not as many ahead...so much left to do...but friends help..they remind you that we are all in this together and that ,all in all, life is good!
