Took the m and s donation up to food bank and stayed to help unload a couple of cars. Got home and shampooed the small bedroom carpet. I had just cleaned the piece just inside the door with spray cleaner a couple of months ago but it had left a mark. It was only really noticeable when the sun comes out but I know it’s there! Looks like it might have worked- if so I’ll do my bedroom too. It has a similar stain.
Drove over to G and Cs. C wasn’t ready of course but eventually we set off for Welbeck- about 40 minutes drive. Had a delicious lunch in the very busy cafe, a quick browse in the farm shop and then went over to the gallery. Took a quick photo- just as well. A minibus took us up to the house. The family still live there so it’s only open a couple of times a year when they are on holiday, and only for guided tours. Our two guides were really pleasant and knowledgeable young women who work full time in the gallery so were very knowledgeable about the house. The rooms we saw were stunning with incredible plaster work on the vaulted ceilings and a particularly interesting drawing room which is used regularly by the family so had interesting modern furnishings mixed in. No photos were allowed inside the house- a tiara was stolen a few years ago and they are incredibly security conscious.
Looked around the modern gallery when we came out. Was hoping for a ceramic head or something similar but sadly not.
