Dougie Beck

I took three days off. Was meant to be four or five, but a project I had been working on kept running over.

So, having pressed send at 11pm the night before, I had a slow morning, then drove down to Lochailort, turned left and by about 1pm I was on the hill, finally managing to tackle Rois Bheinn after several abortive attempts - all scuppered by the weather.

Apart from the Corrieyairack Pass a year and a half ago, this was the first time I'd had the boots on to go up a hill in nearly three years, by my reckoning. A lot happened in these three years, including bereavement, marriage, losing over 4 stone in weight and a geographical move, so in many ways it was a very different Dougie Beck who set off Rois Bheinn compared to the one who buggered his knee on Ben Wyvis three years earlier.

And apart from getting severely disorientated by mist and snowed on at the top I loved it.
