Chops
Spending my brief weekend on the eastern side of the Sierras. I stopped in at the Mono Basin visitor's center and this California Gull was perched up on a light fixture in the parking lot, occasionally stretching his jaw in a most uncomfortable looking way. This species is central to famous conservation efforts to preserve Mono Lake, an interior saline lake which hosts a large portion of the world's California Gull population. It's explained a bit more in depth here, in my first blip of the bird.
Having trouble keeping up with internet business lately; it's all I can do to post an entry. I'm really appreciative of everyone's thoughtful comments and always mean to catch up with everyone soon.
