Newt

We have no frogs or frogspawn in our pond this year but we think this is because it has been taken over by newts. We have gradually been getting more and more over the years and what was once an occasional sighting is now commonplace with 3 or 4 coming to the surface at a time every day. We are sure this is only a small percentage. I spotted one trying to snack on a bee today and another on a water boatmen so there is plenty for them to eat. Unfortunately my photos weren't so good as they were amongst the plants but I will try again.
