If I were to offer my dad
a knighthood I’m sure
he’d turn it down.
‘Don’t be daft,’ he’d say.
‘Why would I want to be a Sir?
It wouldn’t feel right
being a knight.’
 
Which is exactly why
he’s deserving of an honour.
But I’ll never be Prime Minister
and he’s no Tory party donor,
so it won’t be happening
anytime soon.
 
He’s a good bloke though.
 
A while ago I thanked him
for all he does for the two
(my sister and me) of us.
His reply:
‘That’s what dads do.’
