Arrival

Finally got into Venice.  It seems that French air traffic controllers are working to rule and although that shouldn't affect flights from Gatwick to Venice it did, because less traffic is allowed through French airspace. 

Another couple of factors were involved, so although we were queued on the tarmac for 25 minutes, we got into Venice a minute ahead of schedule.  

We were also very lucky with our hotel - given a choice of two rooms, and the one we got has a private garden terrace (main image), and is lovely and comfortable.

The over-the-top light fitting is in our hotel room.  Isn't it funny how things have a "sense of place".  It would ridiculous in our house in Adelaide, but somehow is perfect here.
