9 k white gold? I don't think so!

It is so annoying when you get given an old ring to remelt and reuse for something else and it turns out to be not what it says it it. 9 kt gold said the stamp inside the ring. Should have melted easily but all I managed was to get a bit of copper bubbling to the surface so it's ruined. I think it might be a nickel alloy.

I'd love to get my hands on the cheating jeweller that stamped that ring!!

Anyway, I got the blip of the day out of it... sitting there glowing white in the crucible but refusing to melt. And a one-handed blip as well since the other hand was holding the torch.
