My favourite netsuke (I've only got about 7... A nascent collection) - the look of worry on the face, clutching the tail, on the underside the bottoms of the feet and tail carved just as beautifully simply as the top. This isn't a particularly valuable piece, but it's a gloriously tactile thing, and after tidying up the home office a wee bit, he lived on the desk with me today (rather than up on the small bookcase to the side), rolling around in my hand as I was on calls. It's all soft edges and warmth and comfort. I'm off to the actual office tomorrow, so with the work laptop removed he has pride of place in the centre of the desk until I get back.
