River Dee

Today's the day ............................. to look over the fence

A fine, breezy day today and the River Dee at Tongland was in full flow.

This is the view of it that we have, if you look over the garden fence, down to the river some thirty feet below.  On the opposite bank, you can see one half of what is left of the viaduct that once carried the railway over the river.  The half on this side is part of our garden as you can see in extras.  There were two stone pillars in the middle of the river that supported the metal girders on which the track ran - but they are long gone.

The view from the train as it went over the bridge must have been quite spectacular .....................
