The Big Bird Bait Battle on the Belt

When I got out to the fish market this morning for sunrise, I knew something was up, a feeling was in the air.

Sure enough, Capt. Lightning and his crew were going to unload their boat, which was filled with herring, a bait fish.

What's the difference between unloading big fish or little fish? The shorebirds can swallow the herring whole, and swallow they did.

They started at 9 a.m. and were still working at 10:30 when I left...after exhausting 2 camera batteries. WAY too many pictures taken.

I got a lot of flyers and a lot of territorial skirmishes. A 4 picture sampling is in my Extras. SO much fun to watch.
