Los Jameos del Agua

Didn’t sleep well last night for some reason. J organized a taxi to take us to a local cave, Los Jameos del Agua, which the famous artist César Manrique created in 1968 as the first arts culture and tourist center. It was a nice trip with the cave having a pool in the middle with some albino small crabs in there. Lots of steps up and down and very uneven underfoot which was challenging for mum to get about, but she managed. It was nice to be able to sit there and have a cup of coffee without having to worry about how long we took. There was a nice little pool at the top with a garden, behind it they had created a 500 seater auditorium in another part of the cave which is meant to have fantastic acoustics. They have also just opened a fantastic interactive museum about the geology of Lanzarote and the lava tube that emerges into the sea nearby which is meant to be the longest in the world, so they think. Found a taxi to get us back to the hotel for lunch. Mum had a rest in her room while we seat by the pool before J went for a swim in the sea. Dinner tonight was in the a la carte restaurant, as were allowed to eat in there once as part of the holiday. Glad it was only the once as the pizza was not very nice and mums lasagne was bland and the sort of thing you got in the local pub, nuked to death and then placed under the grill. We have a half day excursion booked tomorrow so decided on an early night.
