Lord Of The Flies

What a beautiful day it has been today. Perfect spring weather with warm sunshine and the busy buzzing of bees and all manner of wee beasties. Sunshine really does make a difference.

This morning I went for a recuperative walk after a trying week, and this afternoon my wife and I (ably assisted by an enthusiastic spaniel ) chain sawed a respectable amount of timber from an old fence, and stored it for next winter. We reckon we have saved a fair bit of money with logs being so expensive, and hopefully will get more done in the coming weeks.

I have selected two images for my blip today. An interesting comparison.

The main image was taken with a second hand phone with a broken screen. This fly posed patiently while I faffed with the settings.

The second image ( extra) was taken with a very expensive camera and a very expensive lens. 

The light today was very helpful for macro photography but I was compromised by not using a bespoke macro lens. 

I will let others decide which is 'technically' the better picture, but for me it  illustrates the argument that you do not necessarily need a big expensive camera to be able to get half decent shots.
