We went to the nearby village of Mells to look at the daffodils. They used to have a Daffodil Festival at Easter but can't get the volunteers now so it hasn't happened in the past few years.
The entrance is to the house known as Mells Manor where Lord and Lady Oxford live. They also own quite a lot of the village and surrounding area, because they inherited the 'plum' from the nursery rhyme Little Jack Horner, the deeds to the Manor of Mells (which is far more than the manor house). We walked round some of the public footpaths that run through the village, crossed over the stream and found a few remaining clumps of daffs - most of them have gone over.
Afterwards, we went to a nearby place called Palette & Pasture, which used to be a dairy farm but is now better known as the home of Somerset Gelato. They were running an Easter Egg trail and it was heaving there! Naturally, we felt obliged to sample said gelato. Mr W had ginger ripple and I tried the cream egg variety. What can I say? We brought 2 tubs to have at home, the ginger ripple one and a walnut & blueberry one.
