Gannets

The gannets come from the Bass Rock and they pass here on their way to places where (I presume) they know they will find fish. They seem to prefer to go around in small groups and give the impression that they know what they are doing - they don't fly around randomly like some birds - they have a plan. They don't come near the shore. They are a long way away and difficult to photograph.
