Getting better!

About an hour into Tuesday's rehearsal I was seriously contemplating abandoning my plan to play cello this term at orchestra. I have been to several rehearsals so far this term, plus a half day workshop and was feeling reasonably confident. However a few minutes of sectional rehearsal with a CBSO cellist exposed some major shortcomings (liked the inability to transpose clefs and invent 4th and 5th positioning at speed!)
It didn't get any worse though and at least three of us were struggling equally. I've now spent a few hours with Brahms and a pencil and I think I will be OK - even if I have to mime some of it. There are too many cellos for the quiet bits anyway.....
