Bee-fly

A day of gardening but seeing this little bombly I ran to fetch the camera.

Having grown up in the nest of a mining bee as a parasite, this harmless bee-fly has emerged feeding now on low growing flowers. It's long legs hang on to the petals giving it the appearance of hovering - this one has its legs crossed.
