I could walk this wood in the winter and not hear a single bird. Now, though...
Not being much of a birder, I've downloaded an app called Merlin. In only 100 yards this morning what sounded like a rich clutter of twittering turned out to be robin, chiffchaff, chaffinch, song thrush, blackbird, treecreeper, wren, great spotted woodpecker, carrion crow, rook, wood pigeon, great tit, dunnock and blue tit.

Who knows what came after I switched it off?
