Seeing Beyond Looking

Happy Easter!

Did the Easter Bunny come into your homes this morning? A very elegant one turned up in my pot of spring flowers on the balcony! He's called Cleo and his ears, or part of them, will taste mighty fine with an after-lunch coffee!

Wanting to know the origins of the Easter Bunny, I did a little research. I did already know that the bunny, as we know it, was in fact a hare (with far longer ears). Very much like mine this year.

I found this:
"The Easter hare, or Osterhase, as an Easter symbol seems to have its origins in Germany, where it was first mentioned in German writings in the 1500s. The actual Easter bunny legend has its origin in German tradition."

According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws.” Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs."

Anyway, if your day includes chocolate, sunshine and flowers, it will be a blessed day indeed!
