steam to the Brocken
Today we took the narrow gauge steam railway up to the Brocken Mountain. We were really lucky with the weather, nice sun shine but it was a little cold on top. The Brocken is the tallest mountain in North Germany with a height of 1142m. The steam railway goes all the way to the top. Until the fall of the Wall the Brocken was a Russian and East German listening post and absolutely inaccessible. Now it is a tourist attraction again (see extra) We had lunch up there and a nice wander. Afterwards walk in Wernigerode and back to the flat in Quedlinburg.
