Two eggs
I went to Blackford Pond for the first time in months and was delighted to find nesting in progress. The swans are nesting in the same place as last year, quite close to the near bank on a bed of reeds. The water level had been very high but although it has gone down a fair bit it could still have been risky to nest on the island. I expect more eggs will appear. There was also a coot nest in the same reeds, and a pair of little grebes are nesting amazingly close to the near bank - they usually keep a low profile in the overhanging tree branches of the far bank. They don't seem to have any eggs yet. See extras of both the other nests.
