Crazy kids
Just like children, the moment they're left alone they start messing around - this is the first time I haven't seen one of the parents in the nest or on the tree and he seemed to be taking full advantage. When I pulled up, this guy was standing at the edge of the nest, looking around (probably making sure his parents were really gone). He was very aware of me at first, but then went back to what he was doing, which appeared to be jumping on his sibling. When he got tired of that he went to the other side of the nest and practiced flapping his wings. I really thought he might try flying, but after a couple of minutes he was back in the nest, his head popping up once or twice and then I couldn't see either of them and would have never known they were in there. It's exciting to watch them, but bittersweet.
