Not hardy

Having spent a very fruitful morning sorting through the last boxes of our old company paperwork and putting most of it out for commercial shredding, we thought we’d go for a walk after lunch in Knighton Wood.

We hadn’t got more than a couple of hundred yards when the blue skies disappeared behind some cloud and it started to hail on us, with a biting wind blowing the hail into our faces.

Naturally I was very concerned about my camera getting wet, so I suggested to Smithers that maybe discretion was the better part of valour. (Only to protect the camera from the elements, you understand.) He readily agreed (too readily?) and we beetled back home, whereupon he dived into the kitchen to put the kettle on, and I headed for the craft room to enjoy some extra unexpected creative time.

It would appear that we are not as hardy as some of the plants in our garden. Like this clematis, for example, which, fortunately, I had photographed just as we were leaving.
