New Mayor Gets on Her Bike!
New Salisbury Mayor Penny Brown poses for me under the Cathedral Spire at lunchtime today for an official shoot.
A keen cyclist - and with her almost brand spanking new bike, she is putting her name behind a drive to get more Salisbury folk cycling. This image is destined for the front cover of a map, with all the local routes. It'll also be used for Cycling Week, in June amongst other official press releases.
We had planned this for about three weeks and dates when both she and the commissioning officer, Tom, could both make it. Typically, it had to be on the rainiest day in quite a while but we soon got down and did it and this was shot very quickly. 45 minutes had been allowed, we wrapped it up in a third of that, good news all round, as it was cold and frankly, we generated quite a lot of interest, with tourists (inc a whole troupe of Germans) all asking to be photographed with her and naturally, she had to cheerily oblige and promote her City in her new role.
So, glad to have got it out the way and yes, the Spire does lean in toward the pic and her, absolutely intentional as it would just look stiff and rigid if it were bolt upright. Fill-in-flash, of course, providing the light on her and the bike.
Thanks for getting yesterday's Blip into the Spotlight, albeit momentarily - always appreciated!
Here's looking forward to a great Bank Holiday weekend, everybody and hopefully, some decent weather, too!
