A Morel Tale?

After yet another wet morning, the rain eased off and I went for a walk to our local wildlife area. It was still pretty cold and I found  a very slow, slow worm sheltering under the roofing felt we have put down for reptiles.
I also found  this  rather spectacular specimen of a Morel (I believe it is Morchella esculenta). It is at least 6 inches  (15cm)  tall  and the  cap too big to be completely covered by  my hand. They are edible  (hence the specific epithet) but only if well cooked. I was happy to leave it in situ!
Apparently, although widespread, they are uncommon.
