Temples, Shrines and Gardens
Our trip to Japan seems now to be mainly one of visiting temples, shrines and gardens (plus cherry blossom). After a while one gets a little blase about them all; "oh look another pretty garden".
Today we walks from Nanzen-ji, to Eikan-do, and then onto
Higashiyama Jisho-ji, taking in the Philosophers Path along the way. Each was very distinctive. Nanzen-ji had impressive buildings, Eikan-do had a lovely garden around a lake (the picture), and a great main golden worshiping hall, and Higashiyama Jisho-ji had an amazing sand sculptured garden. Combined with all the cherry blossom along the Philosopher's Path it was an amazing day.
We ended the day meeting a friend at a lovely Japanese restaurant in the old town part of Kyoto.
