A day in many parts

It is my 61st birthday today so the day started with cards, texts and presents from the family, happy. Downstairs to make a cup of tea to find that our rescue hedgehog had died in the night, sad. Off to Liverpool to take in the start of the commemoration of the Battle of the Atlantic, impressive. Two war-ships being guarded by female sailors in flak jackets carrying sub-machineguns, thought provoking. Home via Southport through heavy holiday traffic, irritating. Out for a curry, excellent.
