RNLB Joy and Charles Beeby

…………………launching for the final time this morning as an all weather lifeboat at Berwick.

The little one slept around the clock, I on the other hand had a bit of a restless night…however we were both up and dressed and on the riverbank by 9am this morning. The Eyemouth and Seahouses contingent arrived just after us (first extra) plus there were several small boats from the docks. Once launched the boats all headed to the old bridge before turning, heading down stream (second extra) and finally leaving the mouth of the river for open seas (third extra). There was a good turn out of locals at the lifeboat station, the bridge and Quay Walls, the Pier, the river banks (where we were) and out on the point…a fitting send off I think. The boat will now join the RNLI’s fleet of relief boats.

This afternoon was spent celebrating my Mums 90th birthday with an afternoon tea out (fourth and fifth extras)…I’m full of cake now and still have a scone and Bakewell tart in a doggie bag!
