Coffee with Amy
I met the friends I went with to the Young'uns gig last night at the Black Sheep coffee shop next to the Highbury and Islington tube station. It is only a couple of hundred yards away from the Umion Chapel so very convenient as a meeting point. We had a coffee and a pastry each before heading to the venue. Looking down on us was this great wall painting of Amy Winehouse. She was associated more with Camden Town but North London in general was her "manor". Like so many musicians whose talents burned bright but were beset by demons, Amy Winehouse died at the tragically early age of 27. I saw her perform on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury one year - she had such presence and she brought a sense of intimacy even to such a vast space as the natural amphitheatre of the Pyramid Stage.
