Carolyn
In was an incredibly clear day in the Columbia Gorge for our hike up Catherine Creek, about a 41/2 mile loop up to the top for an amazing view of the Columbia River (see extra). We had made it almost back down when Carolyn lost her footing on a steep incline covered with loose rock. Her foot slipped and she fell. Slowly we made our way back to the car. An X-ray of her ankle later that evening revealed a broken fibula. She’s wearing a boot and expects the healing will take about six weeks. A difficult end to what was a glorious hiking day.
