A derelict - perhaps

I am not sure what is going on with this building.  The other half of it hosts a very trendy cafe/restaurant but this side...well you can see for yourself.

I have tried to find out what it might have been originally without success.   The remains of that paintwork suggests "service" but service what.  There seems to be a very new door lock and the letters 5A above.

I know someone who knows everything about Newy so I might ask them next time I see them.
