Espetos

Lunch on the beach again -- it's becoming a habit. Cheap and cheerful this time -- we walked down to the shack on San Cristóbal beach which is currently only open at weekends. It's very much a casual family run affair. Beer in plastic beakers and no cutlery. The waitresses shout the orders across to their dad who tends the espetos (skewers) in the repurposed boat.

There is a permanent queue, but it moves quite quickly -- we bought beers but only had time to drink half before a table was available. The food did take a while to arrive, and we somewhat over-ordered ... when we ordered a plate of croquetas for 6 euros we weren't expecting a dozen large ones. Most of them ended up wrapped in napkins in my shopping bag -- we'll eat them later. We had already eaten a big pile of hake "fish fingers" followed by the obligatory barbecued prawns. Also obligatory: crossing the street to Daniel's ice cream parlour for dessert.

No way were we going to hike back up the very steep hill in the blazing afternoon heat -- S called a taxi, and as usual it was with us in three minutes. Back home to lounge around in the shade.

Mystère continues to improve but still isn't allowed out. He hasn't fallen off any furniture today, which is good.
