Mangroves at low tide

Mangroves are adapted to living in salty tidal areas where few plants could survive. The tubes sticking up are above - ground roots that take in oxygen when exposed at low tide. Mangroves also have mechanisms for filtering out salt and they provide unique habitats. All the same, they are really not very attractive to the eye!
