Busy Day

If I could have only one meal each day I’d settle for breakfast and if I had to choose someone to eat it with other than family it would be my fellow veterans in the breakfast club. This morning thirty-seven of us met for breakfast, always a great atmosphere, loads of banter to go with good food and good company.

Next stop was a DIY store to collect some roofing felt to repair our shed roof following its near removal during Storm Nora. Such a beautiful sunny day to work in the garden. Mrs S footing the ladder made it possible, I was unable to finish the job having mistakenly picked up adhesive instead of bitumen repair, trip out Monday for an exchange.

I then went up to watch the rugby, farcical, the opposition having travelled from Swindon conceded before kick off which meant that for this round of the Papa John Cup only two matches from eight were played, in all the others one of the teams conceded. It’s a ‘nothing’ tournament barely promoted by the RFU extending an already long season and for those clubs travelling draining them financially, less than 50% of the tournaments matches have been played, most clubs taking the sensible view that it’s not worth the effort and conceding rather than spending money they don’t have on travel costs.
Apparently our participation means we can get ‘huge’ discounts on Papa Johns pizzas, just need to travel the fifty mile round trip to get to our nearest one.

The walk up to the club gave me the opportunity to chat to Huw before heading to Truro to pick up Sam after her day out in St Ives.
