The Handley Monument
This is the Handley Monument, it commemorates the life and work of Henry Handley who was born in Sleaford in 1797 and died in 1846. He was a Member of Parliament, local entrepreneur and had some involvement in the River Slea Navigation. The Monument was erected at the request of a number of townspeople after Handley resigned his MP post in 1841. Situated in the centre of the town, a one-way system was enforced to ensure the stability of the Monument.
I had an appointment in town today, it was pouring on and off all day long, so not fun to walk in, but stopped for a quick blip on the way.
