More reminisces
Not a great sales day again... but pleasant enough, with beautiful weather (drizzly in Hereford apparently!). 14 bottles from first visit - they usually have a couple of cases, but are stocked up, plus are saving their money for a "trip of a lifetime" across Canada next year... Then to Mike and Maureen's - drinking very little and about 400 bottles of Pieroth left... With various health issues, they obviously think Mike hasn't long to go either... Then via old house (blip) to Louth - customer had had to go out to a meeting, then other commitments meant he'd not be back till 9... Then on to Tony and Linda in their static near Horncastle - will do an order, but only when their favourite wine comes back in (currently out of stock)... then evening appointment with Ady cancelled last minute... something's happened, but he didn't want to discuss details (Dad died, perhaps?).
Then had another barbecue with hosts' son Dan (who lives in flat below the one I'm staying in) - enjoyed his company - and in the pleasant surprise of the day, he (with a wine-loving mate he spoke to on the phone) bought a case - swiftly followed by the second pleasant surprise of the day, a 6-1 win for Liverpool!
Then back over to hosts... who've decided to have one case of their favourite, and no others, not even a selection to try at their leisure as Moira had suggested yesterday...
One day left, but 5 visits - a couple of whom I know are stocked up, but the others should buy, including a 6 person tasting... Trouble is, the wines opened last weekend are very tired-tasting now (I've poured several away as they're well past it), so I'll have to open some new ones, which I'll have to pay for... Let's hope for a good few cases sold to make that worthwhile!!
