The Woods
I went a bit further on my bike today, although not much, and it's colder, so I'm feeling a bit stiff!
It was worth it though. The woods are lovely and I met some friendly dog walkers, and a volunteer who was helping to get Epsom Common ready for the cattle that will graze there this summer.
My German language partner was very apologetic about missing our chat on Sunday; I'm just glad it was an oversight and not because something nasty came up for her. We've agreed to chat next Saturday. So in the meantime I'm doing my best to brush up my German listening skills. The two things I need most are vocabulary, and the ability to understand spoken German. At least these days there are so many resources available that it can be quite good fun.
Yesterday I played clarinet a bit with Neil on guitar and I thought my tone was mostly quite good, until I got tired and my embouchure went. Which happened very quickly! Today my shoulders are telling me that I'm not used to holding a clarinet. I need to get back into practice.
I've been working on a short easy piece on the keyboard, but only while waiting for tea to brew or dinner to cook. Progress is slow but it's happening. Unlike with clarinet, there's no way I'm ready to play with anyone else yet. Not unless Neil feels like playing "Twinkle, twinkle, little star". I might manage that!
