RSPB St Aidans
1st visit to this nature reserve which is just South of Leeds.
It’s a former open cast mining site and at the car park there is an enormous piece of historic equipment from Coal Board days. It’s called a Dragline Excavator and the extra photo tells the story.
The weather was overcast and there was a chilly wind but we still enjoyed the birds and the sights
The M1 from Barnsley North was good. On the way back it was very busy heading South so I got off it and hit problem after problem with road works and congestion - I would have stayed on the motorway at a crawl for a few miles instead if I could got back in time.
I described this elsewhere as getting lost in the ‘Rhubarb Triangle’ :-)
