Blackthorn

I went for a nice, peaceful walk with a friend who lives in Luccombe which is off the beaten track between Shanklin and Ventnor. We walked from her house. We were admiring the Blackthorn and how the white petals stood out on a rather bleak day. I learned today that the Blackthorn produces sloes. I shall know where to come later in the year. I have some gin waiting in the cupboard!
