Hard life for a tree

This is El Morro, one of our favourite places in New Mexico. The campsite is neat, and there is a walk that goes past a pool of water that used to be an important oasis for travellers, so the cliffs have been inscribed by Spanish and US explorers and travellers since the 17th Century.

This is a tree growing out of the rocks at the top of the cliff. It's amazing how they survive up there.
