Ladybirds

I’ve been working in the garden, and had to be very careful in some areas because there were so many ladybirds around. Lovely to see them again, and hear all the bees as I was working.
It reminded me of when I spent a couple of weeks at a Buddhist monastery. Gardening there was very time-consuming. The monks grew a lot of their own vegetables, but needed to be careful not to kill any insects or creatures, basically they avoid killing any living thing. So when soil was gently turned over, worms and grubs would be carefully removed by hand and transferred to another area. I totally admired their care and attention to protecting living creatures.
Today I’ve dug up more Snow in summer, and put large chunks at the end of the drive again. Weeded the rockery. Fitted a small poly tunnel over the lettuce in one of the raised beds, and planted the spinach and kale I bought yesterday.
Geordie and I are just off out for another wander on the Coastal path while the sun is still glorious.
